BIGBANG‘s Daesung revealed why he is so drawn to making trot music, after the success of his recent Japanese trot album “D-LITE.”

He said that he is drawn to trot music as his parents are big fan of the genre. He further added, “It’s a genre I feel comfortable with.” Traditionally, trot is a genre that appeals to the older demographic.

Japan’s Oricon Style reported earlier that “Daesung’s mini album ‘D-LITE’ sold 71,000 copies, and is very popular among listeners.” The singer’s latest mini album is a trot album, and Daesung even held a surprise event in Shinbashi to appeal to salarymen.

A representative from YGEX commented, “The song ‘Look at Me Gwisoon‘ was very well-received among his fans, and at concerts everyone felt so unified. It was lauded by those in the industry, so we thought it would be fun to focus on this image.”

Group Big Bang’s member Daesung recently met with his fans in Japan.

Recently, the Japanese media held an event for Daesung and his Japan mini album Delight on November 25 in Tokyo.

According to the media, Daesung performed a special stage with the ‘End of the Year Song’ at the event. He brought up the mood of the event place with his bright and uplifting song.

Daesung had rose to the top of Oricon Charts on October 29 for his mini album and sold more than 68,000 albums just within the first week of release.

Big Bang showed its amazing ticket power in Japan, drawing over 1,096,000 spectators with its concerts in 2014 alone.

On November 7, YG Entertainment stated, “Starting January, Big Bang has held the six-dome tour, as well as the live event five-dome tour in Japan, for a total of 29 concerts with 927,000 audience members.”

Including Daesung′s solo arena tour (#41), which attracted 169,000 people, the total will be 1,096,000 concert spectators.

According to the released statement of Japan′s Nikkei Entertainment, EXILE was ranked number one for most concert spectators in a year for a single group with 1,053,000 people. Big Bang was placed second with 927,000 people. And at third was popular group, Arashi, with 894,000 people.

“Big Bang is showing strong ticket power despite competing against very popular local artists,” said YG Entertainment. “On November 15 and 16, Big Bang wiill begin its five-dome concert with Nagoya Dome. There will be 15 concerts in five cities, with an estimate of 741,000 people coming.”

Big Bang’s Daesung took the top spot on Oricon chart.

YG Entertainment announced on October 30, “Daesung’s Japan mini album D-Lite ranked number one on Oricon’s daily album chart.”

D-Lite was released on October 29 in celebration of the holiday season and contains a total of four tracks, including three new songs. Having topped Oricon’s daily album chart with his first Japanese original album D’slove, Daesung topped Oricon again with D-Lite.

D-Lite’s lead track is Look at Me, Gwisoon, which earned popularity in Korea as well. Big Bang’s G-Dragon wrote the Korean version of the song while ‘Hyadain’ Kenichi Maeyamada wrote the Japanese lyrics.

The second track A Big Hit! was also written by Kenichi Maeyamada and the third track is the cover of Ada Wakiko’s Old Diary. The fourth track is the cover of 70’s Japanese singer Linda Yamamoto’s hit song Do ni mo Tomaranai.

Having captured the heart of the Japanese fans through D-Lite, Daesung will be launching his solo tour encore concert. Daesung previously performed 15 concerts in eight cities around Japan, gathering 170,000 fans for his Japan solo arena tour D-Lite DLive 2014 in Japan ~D’slove.

To return thanks to the fans, Daesung will be launching his encore concert titled Encore!! 3D Tour D-Lite DLive D’slove in Tokyo Yoyogi National Gymnasium on January 31 and February 1, 2015 and in Osaka’s Osaka-jo Hall February 10 and 11.

Meanwhile, as a member of Big Bang, which was the first foreign artist to hold Japan 5-dome tour for two years in a row, Daesung will be performing in the dome tour starting with Nagoya Dome on on November 15 and 16.

Big Bang will be releasing its official stamps in Korea, Japan and China.

Big Bang will be releasing the stamps on October 31 in three countries simultaneously, with Korean stamps taking pre-orders through G Market and YG’s e-shop on October 22. This is the first time that stamps are being released in three countries simultaneously.

Big Bang’s stamps will feature different designs for three countries. In Korea, the gilded stamps will be sold along with post cards.

In Japan, the stamps celebrating Big Bang’s 5-dome tour ‘Big Bang Japan Dome Tour 2014-2015’ will be sold along with post cards. The Japanese stamps can be purchased through online mu-mo shop starting October 31.

The Chinese stamps have been designed with black and red, which are preferred colors in China, and they have been packaged with a coin set.

According to YG Entertainment on September 18, Daesung will be releasing a concept album D-Lite on October 29 in celebration of year-end party season.

The album will be released through ‘Enka! Avex Produced by YGEX.’ This label is under Tokyo Pudding, which created big hits with enka music (a genre similar to trot) in Japan during late 90’s.

The new album will contain a total of nine tracks, including three new enka songs, and the entire album will be recorded in Japanese.

The lead track will be Look at me, GwiSoon, originally written by G-Dragon, but the Japanese lyrics will be written by Kenichi Maeyamada.

The album D-Lite contains songs under trot genre, which can be enjoyed by people across all age groups, and covers some of the most popular Japanese songs.

The DVD that comes along with the CD will include the music video for Look at me, GwiSoon and Shut Up as well as the summer episode of ‘How to Enjoy Vacation in Hokkaido.’

Daesung stated, “It is a project that reflects a new side of me, setting apart from Big Bang. I hope that people across all ages, from children to elderly people, will listen to it. Above all else, I hope that many people will sing and dance as they enjoy the year-end parties.”

Before releasing D-Lite, Daesung will also be releasing his solo arena tour DVD D-Lite DLive 2014 in Japan ~D’slove on October 22, containing clips from Daesung’s 15 concerts in eight cities around Japan, gathering over 170,000 fans. The DVD will contain live performances of 20 songs in a span of 180 minutes on top of 60 minutes worth of Daesung’s interviews about the tour, documentary clips and more.

Big Bang’s Daesung successfully wrapped up his Japanese solo arena concert tour over two months.

The arena tour titled D-Lite DLive 2014 in Japan ~D’slove~ launched on June 11 and 12 in Yokohama and ended with the Osaka concert on July 26 and 27, gathering over 170,000 fans for 15 concerts in eight cities.

Having launched his first solo tour D-Lite D’scover Tour 2013 in Japan ~D’live~ last year, gathering 100,000 fans for 26 concerts in 20 cities, Daesung became the first Korean soloist to gather over 100,000 fans for two Japanese tours in a row.

During the finale concert on July 26 and 27, Daesung said, “Last year, I discovered the fans’ love for me through D-Lite D’scover Tour 2013 in Japan ~D’live~. This year, I wanted to return my love to you through the tour so I gave it a title, D-Lite DLive 2014 in Japan ~D’slove~.”

He said, “I would like to present a concert, in which not only I, but the band, dancers and all the fans who came to the concert hall can sing, dance and enjoy it all together.”

Daesung presented performance of various songs, including Rainy Rainy, which ranked number one on Japanese iTunes, the tracks from the new album D’slove, as well as the tracks from the albumD’scover. He also showed off his powerful drum skills, which he has been practicing for the last one year.

Presenting over 25 songs in the span of 3 hours and 40 minutes, including anchor and re-anchor songs, Daesung brought out enthusiastic cheers from over 16,000 fans during the finale concert.

During the anchor performance, Daesung also announced, “I am planning a new project as a soloist this fall.”

Meanwhile, Daesung’s first original album in Japan D’slove has ranked number one on Oricon’s daily album chart and has sold over 37,517 copies, ranking number two on Oricon’s weekly chart.

[NEWS] Recording of “Music Japan” Interrupted Due to the Appearance of Taeyang and Daesung

Big Bang’s Taeyang and Daesung recently filmed NHK’s “Music Japan,” which is the most well known music program in Japan.

Although Big Bang appeared on the show before as a group, this is the first time Taeyang and Daesung appeared together.

On July 25, Taeyang and Daesung’s agency, YG Entertainment, revealed, “For this filming, about 3,000 people were invited to the NHK hall in Tokyo. About 10 teams appeared on the show but when Taeyang and Daesung appeared, the audience cheered the loudest. The cheer was so loud that during the talk with the MC, they had to stop the interview.”

During this episode, Daesung performed the song, “Shut Up,” which is one of the tracks that’s on his original album, “D’slove.” The album was released in Japan on July 16. Also, Taeyang performed the Japanese version of “1AM,” which will be included on his Japan debut album, “Rise.” The album will be released on August 13.

Meanwhile, Daesung is currently doing a solo arena tour, and so far he visited a total of eight cities and held a total of 15 shows.
